Mission of The Argyll Colony Plus

To publish original research connected to the Scottish Highland immigrants who came to North Carolina during and shortly after the colonial period, their origins, culture and genealogies, following them and their descendants through time, which will include local and family histories, newly discovered records, unpublished manuscripts, diaries, etc. and other items of educational interest which would shed light on this group of people, such as book reviews, and occasional articles related to the Scots-Irish and other Scottish highland settlements in North America.

Editorial Policy

The Argyll Colony Plus has a Publications Committee whose function is to obtain and submit articles to the Editor, edit received articles and information, and provide input and advice regarding all aspects of publication.

Each issue of The Argyll Colony Plus endeavors to include a variety of types of articles, focusing on original research, but occasionally using previously published information if it is not easily accessible by the membership and with permission of the original publisher or author.

The Argyll Colony Plus strives to uphold the standards of scholarship and good writing initiated by Vic Clark and Scott Buie. Therefore, it retains the right to refuse articles which are not appropriate for the publication, or to edit them before publication. Preference will be given to articles deemed of unusual historical merit.

The editor and The Argyll Colony Plus assume no responsibility for errors on the part of contributors. All accepted material is subject to final editing and is published as space allows. Electronic submission is strongly encouraged.

The Argyll Colony Plus does not publish articles about Lowland Scotland or Lowland Scots unless there is some association with our research focus, stories of fiction, or articles covering events not associated directly with the stated purposes of the N. C. Scottish Heritage Society.

Regular items to be included are the organizational information for the North Carolina Scottish Heritage Society, Publications for Sale, upcoming events, and queries.
